Purpose
Remove the patient's traditional insurance plan and replace it with a Discount Dental Plan (DPP) in Open Dental.
Steps
1Find the patient
OD → search by name/chart number/PatNum.
2Family → Insurance tab
View patient's active plans.
3Remove insurance plan
Select plan → Drop → confirm termination date.
Verify NO pending claims against this plan before dropping.
4Add discount plan
Discount Plans → Add → select corresponding DPP → effective date.
5Recompute fees
Pending procedures recalculated with DPP discount %.
